Inside Low Cinema

Dir. Matt Johnson, 2025, 95 min. USA

Often shot surreptitiously using hidden cameras in public places with real people, Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol’s work makes them some of the most gutsy comedic voices in recent memory. Their absurdist television program “Nirvana the Band the Show” (produced by Spike Jonze) ran on television for two short seasons, priming them for a spectacular feature-length follow up that must be seen to be believed.

Synopsis:

When their plan to book a show at the Rivoli goes horribly wrong, Matt and Jay accidentally travel back to the year 2008.

All sales are final; no refunds or exchanges. Five minutes after the listed showtime, any unused tickets will be considered no-shows and released to standby customers.
